Rome
accommodation, flights and sightseeing
Rome
was once the centre of an empire that stretched from the Iberian Peninsular in
the west to Mesopotamia in the east, and from North Africa to Northern England
and is one of the best-known cities in the world. The
city is hugely popular as a tourist destination, with history, ruins, monuments
and art treasures to satisfy the most avid sightseer. Rome
was not built in a day, and any visitor to the city will find that a day is certainly
not enough time to appreciate its sights more than superficially.
The
classical city shows why the Roman's were famed for their architecture, with many
structures standing in whole or in part, and make you wonder how many of today's
architects constructions will be standing in two thousand years. In
addition to Rome itself, the city-state of The Vatican lies to the west of the
Tiber and serves as both a tourist destination as well as a place of pilgrimage. While
taking a rest from the culture on show in the city, visitors to Rome can choose
to enjoy a quick shot of espresso in one of the numerous piazzas, or enjoy some
of the Italian cuisine. Italy is of course home
to pizza and pasta and renowned for its ice cream and although Milan is Italy's
fashion centre, Romans match the rest of Italy for flair, exuberance and dress
sense. To learn more about Rome,
