Rome airports

Rome has two airports, Rome Leonardo da Vinci (Fiumicino) Airport (FCO) and Rome Ciampino Airport (CIA).

The latter is the older of the two, although now is used for charter flights and some domestic traffic. 15km southeast of the city, there is a bus to Ciampino station, from which trains depart every 15 minutes for Rome Termini.

Rome's main airport is Rome Leonardo da Vinci (Fiumicino) Airport (FCO) and was established in 1961. With three terminals and reasonably modern facilities, it lies 26km southwest of Rome and takes around 45 minutes by car or taxi (L70,000).

The airport has a futuristic looking, flattened cigar tube shaped station, from which you can take an hourly express to Roma Termini (L15,000), which takes 30 minutes.

Alternatively there is a slower train every 20 minutes to Rome Trastevere (L7,000) and there are buses to Magliana and Lepanto metro stations.
